My favorite part of our vacation was that I could go snorkeling every morning without having to drive anywhere. We saw sea turtles, eels, lots of fish, and on our last morning, spinner dolphins...so terrific! Robbie at 2 Papayas was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants, farmers' markets, places to rent gear, etc. Don't miss the farmers' market in Waimea (great produce, bread, and location), the produce stand about 3 miles north of Puako on the way to Hawi, and Daniel's in Waimea (very tasty). Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory, and Captain Cook Monument were other favorites, but there were many things we didn't have a chance to see in our (very short) week in Hawaii.
